Two Policies Disagree. How Do You Get an Honest AI Answer?

Ask AI to expose the conflict with exact sources, scope and an owner for the decision instead of inventing one universal rule.

Two Policies Disagree. How Do You Get an Honest AI Answer?

One procedure says that a sales manager must approve discounts above 10%. Another sets a 15% threshold for strategic customers. Ask an AI assistant “Which rule is right?” and a confident answer may hide an important exception.

The assistant's useful job is to expose the conflict and its context, not to appoint a winner. A responsible person approves the business rule.

Check each document's scope first

Both policies may be current. One may apply to all customers, the other to a particular segment or period. For each source, record its owner, effective date, audience, exceptions and the exact clause stating the threshold. If a field is missing, that absence is itself a finding.

Before uploading, confirm that the material is permitted in the selected workspace. Remove unnecessary personal data and secrets. Wait for document processing to finish; an answer about a file that is not yet searchable is not a reliable check.

Ask for a disagreement table

An example prompt for Yasnora AI:

Compare the two available discount-approval procedures. For each, give the exact wording, document title and date, clause, customer scope and exceptions. List contradictions and missing information separately. Do not select the governing rule unless the sources explicitly establish priority. End with a question for the process owner.

The result should be a short table with “claim,” “source and clause,” “scope” and “unresolved question.” Open the cited passages. A citation establishes where wording came from; it does not prove that a document has priority over another.

Record the human decision

Send the table to the policy owner. They can decide whether the second document is an exception, an obsolete version or a real conflict. Record the decision and effective date, update the knowledge base, then test one ordinary and one exceptional case.

We previously covered how to check a document version in an AI answer. This case differs: two permitted documents can be valid at the same time under different conditions.

Yasnora Knowledge supports comparison of permitted documents and source inspection. Its public page labels the feature beta; availability depends on account, plan, permissions and prepared materials. AI can be wrong, so do not approve a consequential business rule from one answer alone. Try yasnora.ai. Yasnora is part of the Виксора ecosystem.
